Congress mindset caused harm to Arunachal and the entire North East: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled infrastructure projects worth Rs 5,125.37 crore in Arunachal Pradesh. From a function at the Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar, he virtually laid the foundation stones for two major hydropower projects in Shi Yomi district, and a convention centre in Tawang.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on Congress, accusing it of neglecting Arunachal Pradesh and the entire Northeast. He said Congress governments ignored the region simply because it had only two Lok Sabha seats, a mindset that caused serious damage and left Arunachal lagging in development.
Mindset of Congress caused harm to Arunachal, North East: PM
Addressing a rally in Itanagar, he said, “Although Arunachal Pradesh is where the sun’s rays fall first, it took several decades for the rays of rapid development to reach here. Those who were running the country from Delhi at that time often ignored Arunachal. Parties like Congress thought there were so few people and only two Lok Sabha seats, so why pay attention to Arunachal? This mindset of Congress caused significant harm to Arunachal and the entire North East.” http://www.cgglobal.news
Highlighting the contrast, PM Modi said Arunachal Pradesh received over Rs 1 lakh crore from the Centre in the last 10 years, 16 times more than what Congress provided during its rule. “I knew the Northeast could not be developed sitting in Delhi. That is why I sent ministers and officials regularly here. I myself have visited the region more than 70 times since becoming Prime Minister,” he said, stressing that today’s projects showcase the double benefits of a double-engine government.
Taking a swipe at the opposition, PM Modi said, “Congress kept increasing taxes even when people were already burdened by rising costs.”
He further said, “When I was given the opportunity to serve the nation in 2014, I resolved to free the country from the mindset of Congress. Our guiding principle is not the number of votes or seats in any state, but ‘Nation First’. Our only mantra is Nagrik Devo Bhava (the citizen is God). Modi worships those whom no one has ever asked about. That is why Arunachal Pradesh, which was neglected during Congress rule, has since 2014 become a center of developmental priority.”
Calling Arunachal a “land of peace and harmony, from Tawang Monastery to Namsai Pagoda,” Modi said his government is committed to accelerating growth, unlike the decades of neglect under Congress.

PM Modi unveiled infrastructure projects worth Rs 5,125.37 crore in Arunachal Pradesh. From a function at the Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar, he virtually laid the foundation stones for two major hydropower projects in Shi Yomi district, and a convention centre in Tawang.
The Tato-I project, with a capacity of 186 mw, will be developed jointly by the Arunachal Pradesh government and the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) at Rs 1,750 crore. It is expected to generate around 802 million units of electricity annually.
The 240-mw Heo project will also be developed by the state government and NEEPCO at Rs 1,939 crore. It is expected to produce 1,000 million units of electricity each year.
These projects, to be developed on the Yarjep river, are part of a larger effort to expand Arunachal Pradesh’s hydroelectric capacity, contributing significantly to regional energy security, officials said.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of a state-of-the-art Convention Center at Tawang, to be built under the PM-DevINE scheme at Rs 145.37 crore. Located at over 9,820 feet in the frontier district of Tawang, the centre will serve as a landmark facility to host national and international conferences, cultural festivals, and exhibitions. With a capacity to host over 1,500 delegates, the Center will meet global standards and support the tourism and cultural potential of the region.
The Prime Minister also launched multiple key infrastructure projects worth over Rs 1,290 crore, catering to various sectors, including connectivity, health, fire safety, and working women’s hostels, among others. These initiatives are expected to catalyze economic activity, improve the quality of life, and enhance connectivity in the region.

Among the key infrastructure projects, the Prime Minister also launched the Arunachal Frontier Highway project, which will connect 12 districts along the India-China boundary. The ‘Frontier Highway’, officially christened as National Highway-913, is a proposed 1,748-km corridor and close to Rs 42,000 crore will be invested.
The Arunachal Frontier Highway (AFH), officially notified as the National Highway NH-913 and also called Bomdila-Vijaynagar Highway (BVH), will start from Bomdila and pass through Nafra, Huri, and Monigong.
The stretch will culminate at Vijaynagar, near the India-Myanmar border, officials said.
Key places the highway will connect are Tawang, Mago, Upper Subansiri, Upper Siang, Mechuka, Tuting, Dibang Valley, Kibithoo, Changlang, and Dong. The project includes an 800-km greenfield section and a network of new tunnels and bridges along the India-China border, the officials said.
